The information in this FAQ applies to the following:

  • ProHelp® EPM, Releases 5.2.1, 5.2.0, 5.1.0, 5.0.0

Rules are used to provide an extra level of validation at the database level. The ProHelp® EPM Series software configures SQL Server to use rules as appropriate. To manually modify a rule in SQL Server 6.5, follow these steps:

  • Start the Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.

  • Open the Databases folder.

  • Highlight your database under the Databases folder.

  • Click on the Manage menu and select Rules.

  • Select the appropriate rule to modify in the Rule picklist

  • Copy the rule to NotePad or another editor and modify it as necessary. Write down the rule name on a piece of paper.

  • Click the Datatype Bindings tab of the Manage Rules dialog.

  • In the Binding column, locate the rule that you wish to modify and change the binding to None. Press Apply.

  • Click the Rules tab of the Manage Rules dialog

  • Select the appropriate rule to modify in the Rule picklist. Press Drop to remove the rule.

  • Select New Rule in the Rule picklist. Enter the name of the rule in the Rule picklist. Paste in the modified rule in the Description window. Press Add to create the rule.

  • Click the Datatype Bindings tab of the Manage Rules dialog.

  • Locate the rule that you wish to modify and change the binding from None to the new rule that you created. Press Apply.

  • Press Close to exit the Manage Rules dialog.
