ProHelp® EPM - 'Creating data source failed' in report.... The information in this FAQ applies to the following:
When running system reports, the message 'Creating data source failed' represents an error that is returned from the Crystal Reports Engine. This error may be caused by very simple problems including an invalid ODBC data source name, the inability to connect to the host computer, etc. In rare circumstances, this error may commonly be caused by conflicts with U2L_EPOS.DLL. This is a DLL that Mattec has written that extends the functionality of the Crystal Reports Engine. Specifically, U2L_EPOS.DLL must be placed in the same directory as the Crystal Reports DLL CRPE32.DLL. By default, Mattec loads both of these DLLS in the directory C:\Program Files\Mattec\ProHelp\DLL. If you have loaded a development version of Crystal Reports, or if you have loaded another application that uses Crystal Reports, you may have another copy of CRPE32.DLL on your system. Often times, this file may be found in the C:\WINNT\System32 directory. To resolve the problem, place a copy of U2L_EPOS.DLL in this same directory. NOTE: If you place a copy of U2L_EPOS.DLL in a non-standard directory (i.e., in any directory other than C:\Program Files\Mattec\ProHelp\DLL), you must recopy this file to the same directory any time you upgrade your ProHelp® EPM software. |
