ProHelp® EPM - Moller won't start with error 'MmeRecordset cdbe nRetCode -2 on'.... The information in this FAQ applies to the following:
The ProHelp® EPM Monitoring Engine (Moller) can not start unless it can properly access the SQL Server database using an ODBC connection. If the ODBC Data Source connection is configured improperly, it is possible for the error 'MmeRecordset cdbe nRetCode -2 on' to be displayed in both the C:\MATTEC.LOG and C:\MOLLER.LOG files. In fact, it is possible for the error to be written repeatedly to both files and for both files to grow rather large. A common mistake in ProHelp® EPM, Release 5.2.2 and earlier, is for the ODBC Data Source connection to have a Client Configuration that does not specify Named Pipes. Named Pipes is the only Client Configuration that is permitted in ProHelp® EPM, Release 5.2.2 and earlier. (TCP/IP is the preferred Client Configuration in ProHelp® EPM, Release 6.0.0, and later.) To test or modify the ODBC Data Source configuration for the server, follow these steps:
